A Guide to the Mediaeval Antiquities and Objects of Later Date in the Department of British and Mediaeval Antiquities

Ormonde Maddock Dalton, and A B Tonnochy. Published by the British Museum. 1st edition, 1924.  HB (printed heavy blue card covers with silver-lettered spine and cover).  xii + 322 pages + a frontispiece and 16 b&w plates and illustrated throughout in the text with 217 b&w photographs and excellent line drawings.   The top edge is a little dusty and has a few foxing spots and the spine is lightly faded, otherwise, the contents are clean and very good.

Almost everything seems to be covered from the 11th to the 18th centuries: Arms & armour, astrolabes, badges, signs, clocks and watches, censers, cups, jugs, enamels, forks, metalwork, Battersea enamels, magic charms, mazers, seals, spurs, pilgrim's badges, monumental brasses, measures, armorial pendants, seals and seal matrices, plaquettes, jugs and skillets and other domestic utensils, locks and keys, massive knockers, jewellery including Jewish betrothal and puzzle rings, tobacco boxes and related objects, ivory carvings, etc.  Warning!  This book is seriously addictive and informative.
