E J Newborn, Fitton End Farm, Fitton End. 6 pence.  Aluminium, eight-pointed star 33mm  Struck from rusty dies, About Fine.  Rare.  A very unusual shape for a farm token.


'The Fruit Grower Directory & Handbook 1925' lists: Edward James Newborn Fruit and Potato grower & Commission agent, 38 Wellington Street, Covent Garden, London WC2 and Fitton End Farm, Fitton End, Cambs.  He reported in 'The Gardeners' Chronicle', a weekly periodical (1841-1986) on the availability of varieties of potatoes, state of the market', prices, etc in the first quarter of the 20th century.


Fitton End is a village in the fens close to Wisbech and Newton.
