Public library ex-libris on front pastedown, many library stamps throughout.  Some foxing, or perhaps staining, and a little damage to the ffep where a label once was.  Otherwise Very good, with nice tight library binding, with the plates, which were published separately conveniently bound in. 

The author, in his preface states: "William Boyne in 1858...  Justin Simpson in 1872...G C Williamson in 1889 revised...  Thomas Sheppard in 1911 wrote a new list which suggests a total of 281.  Each of these lists includes a number of misreadings and has been the cause of collectors believing themselves to be in the possession of freshly discovered varieties."  He carries on to say that he hopes to have corrected the errors of the previous publications.   Manville 905.  250 copies only printed.
