G C Williamson (editor). 1889 original edition, bound in 2 volumes, as usual. 1584pp + addenda, errata, corrigenda, etc. + 15 plates of line drawings.
This is the standard ref work on the series and whilst other tokens have turned up since, it is likely to remain so for some while yet.
The various workers out in the counties, reported back, giving the latest known positions, and any information they had on the issuers. The index is wonderful, the most comprehensive in any numismatic work that we know of, and enables the finding of most tokens from the most meagre of information, even from a poorly preserved token.
No 164 of an edition of 250 copies. Professionally rebacked about 40 years ago, dark green morocco spine and corners with contrasting lighter green cloth, with gilt lettering. Top edge gilt. Contents vg. Nice copies, from our own shelves.
To get these bound to this standard now would cost around £100
