This was intended so that the intelligent reader could follow the exhibition as laid out in the various cases in the old coin gallery.  The content was such, however, that it makes an excellent, well-illustrated cheap guide to roman coins, which we strongly commend to beginners. In fact, it is perhaps the best guide one could choose.
