This extremely sound technical work is a revised version of part of the author's doctoral thesis. It examines the coinage of the Celtic tribes of north-west Gaul including the Channel Islands - the Veneti, Nametes, Pictones, Osismii, Coriosolitae, Redones, Aulerci, Baiocasses and compares it with contemporary Greek and Roman types. Every aspect is covered including the geography and climate of the area. Two extensive appendices give details of the large number of hoards found in the region, multiple deposits of coins on temple sites, a feature in common with English sites, and distribution maps with full bibliographic references to standard references.
