A moderate Royalist with Catholic leanings, Sir Richard Weston, Earl of Portland, was Lord Treasurer of England from 1621 until his death in 1635. From 1628, with the death of Buckingham, he was chief minister of the crown, and insisted that the government withdrew from its expensive involvement in the 30 Years War.

Almost as new.
