Delia Smith. Published by Ebury Press, 2008. HB. Coloured paper and heavy wipe clean semi-transparent plastic. 254pp. 280 x 190mm. ISBN 9780091922290 Used. Corners and edges a little rubbed, otherwise, Good - Very good. In this book, the author suggests a range of pre-prepared products from bottles, tins, chill cabinets, freezers, etc., allowing those short of time to short circuit cooking times and techniques. Using the ingredients she suggests, easily available from supermarkets and other food shops, you can create good meals without the fuss. ‘How to Cheat’ is for people who don't want to cook, who think they can't cook, or simply haven't the time to cook. As Delia herself says, "Cheating's come on a lot and there's much more available. The way it's going I can't think of anybody who wouldn't want it." The book is now 16 years old and some of the products she lists are no longer available. I use the excellent recipes (150 odd) for inspiration and in reverse so I don't cheat so much, or there are new and different cheats out there.
