Edinburgh Wash House token.

Brass. Uniface. Diameter 39.5mm.  CITY OF EDINBURGH  PUBLIC WASH HOUSES around, stamped number 40 in centre. Style suggests late 19th - early 20th century.  Hole for suspension, Fine - GF

The Edinburgh public wash houses were facilities for washing and drying of clothes and bedding.
The first opened in 1892, by 1934 there were 13 of them.  The last three closed in 1982.
