G C Brooke. 1932 1st ed. xii + 277pp + 64 good collotype plate. 136 x 222mm
An historical survey of the english coinage along with a classified description of the coins. One of the best introductions to the subject for the beginner, and a source of information even for the advanced collector. However, the treatment of modern coins, i.e. George V onwards in this book is necessarily rather brief.
Top edge a little dusty, and some clown has wiped the front and rear covers (though not the spine) with a wet (rather than just damp) cloth, in an attempt to brighten them a little, which has removed all the size, so they now have lost their shine ! Previous owner's signature inscribed in ink on the ffep. Otherwise the contents are very good, without any trace of foxing. But cheap because of the cover.
