The company was founded by George Roskell, and was the only issuer of tokens in North Wales in the 19th century. Flint, in the early 19th century was something of a rural backwater, so it is likely that the tokens, a very large issue, circulated over a much larger area, including Chester and Liverpool, and perhaps Manchester too.
