HALFPENNY TOKEN 1813. J. HILLES, DUBLIN


Copper 28.5mm HALFPENNY TOKEN above two men working at a reduction rolling mill. J· HILLES DUBLIN in two lines in exergue.  R. PAYABLE IN BANK OF IRELAND NOTES 1813 around a sprig of Shamrock in the centre.  A nice example, almost as good as the one in our reference collection.  Anything much better is exceptional.

James Hilles was a wholesale iron ware merchant, and tin plate manufacturer.  He also sold barrels of pitch, timber, tallow candles, hemp, and much else besides.
