Halifax Sunday School Centenary Second Celebration took place on Whit Tuesday 1890.

It was a particularly outstanding affair with an estimated 34,000 people, gathered inside the vast courtyard of The Piece Hall, Halifax, many of them traveling from across the country to hear the children and teachers of various Halifax Sunday Schools sing. The event was so well attended that the Piece Hall was unable to hold all of those who wished to attend.

In 1861 Blondin did a tightrope walk across The Piece Hall.
