1994 saw the 200th anniversary of the Yeomanry.  The Yeomanry have a long record in the army.  Initially raised as a response to Napoleon's threat of invasion, they also saw service keeping down the skittish elements in british population when it came to episodes such as Peterloo and the chartist riots.  To a certain extent they have redeemed themselves in the two world wars.
