1st ed., xi + 390pp. Has many line drawings and 37 engravings. Railway enthusiasts tell me that this is well-written and comprehensive, the best general description of the British railway system in the 1850s. Fascinating.
New cloth. Edges browned and some foxing. The edges of the first two pages of engravings are nibbled and browning. The top corners of two pages at the rear have been clipped off (not affecting the text). Generally good. The orig. bookplate retained.
South Staffordshire Iron and Coalmasters' Prize 1854. Awarded by HM's Inspector Wednesbury, St John's National School.
