Bronze medal, diameter 45mm. MONNAIE DE PARIS Winged infant holding a torch aloft and reclining against a coining screwpress. Signed DANIEL-DUPUIS in exurgue. Rv. A female seated right on a billowing cloud inscribes 1900 on the cover of a book, assisted by a child kneeling before her. DANIEL-DUPUIS in exergue.

Some tiny spots (possibly from the patination process) in the reverse field, otherwise EF-GEF.

This medal is a souvenir from the Paris Mint engraved by Jean-Baptiste Daniel Dupuis (1849-1899)

Dupuis was a French medallist and sculptor, son of a painter, who became a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris when only 16 years old. It is a fine example of Art nouveau.
