H Mattingly. 1st edition, 1927. HB xx + 298 pages + 64 excellent collotype plates.
The author examines the coinage in general life in the Republic, the Empire and the late Empire, including the provincial and the local coinages, mints and money systems and the effects of currency reforms. Perhaps the best general survey of the roman coinage available.
No dj., corners bumped, front edge a little spotty, spine and boards grubby, otherwise intenally a nice clean copy, with the plates interleaved and the top edge gilt.
