Hallmarked silver, 38mm diameter, weight 22.68gm.  SOUVENIR· OF· THE· RE-OPENING· OF· THE· NAVE + OCT. 19TH  1907 +  around view of church.  Rv.  Arms of Selby above plaque with inscription THIS MEDAL IS CAST FROM THE LEAD MELTED OFF THE ROOF OF SELBY ABBEY BY THE GREAT FIRE OCT 20TH 1906  Hallmarked WHH (William Hair Haseler)  Birmingham, date letter q (1915-16).   BHM 3954.  Struck from the same dies as the original lead medal of 1907.  Briliant proof-like, attractive multi-coloured toning, about FDC.  Very rare.
