UNITY · FREEDOM · JUSTICE · SIR MILTON MARGAI His head right.  Reverses depict: two bongo fish, oil palm leaves, a cottonwood tree, a circle of grains of rice (not cocoa beans as stated by KM !), a lion, the arms of Sierra Leone with lion supporters.  Designs by Michael Rizzello. KM 16-21. Produced by the Royal Mint, London.  In case of issue.  The obverse of the half cent and the one leone are slightly unevenly toned, due to a chemical reaction of the coins with the material of the case, the coins otherwise brilliant.
Do not press the 10 and 20 cent pieces into its recess - the holes are too small, and they will become almost impossible to remove.
