These pieces are really medallions, but nevertheless very popular, as many of them say ONE PENNY TOKEN or similar, on them, and some were made for places that otherwise issued no tokens. They are some of the best examples of the 18th century engraver's art.
There is a lot of interesting background information on the places depicted on the tokens in this book for the collector.
Rear of dw faded in patches, the upper board very slightly bowed but contents almost as new.
