First printed 1889-1891, this is the standard reference work on the series and one of the classic great numismatic works of all time. Although individual counties are being revised a complete revision is unlikely.  The indexes are excellent, the most comprehensive in any numismatic work, which enables the finding of most tokens from very little information.

The djs are a little grubby with use.  Each volume has the ex libris of David Griffiths.  The contents are nice and clean with many pencil annotations for the counties he collected, corrections, re-attributions and some photographs, line drawings or cuttings stuck in, or added loose.
