Sterling silver Proof commemorative in Royal Mint case of issue, with certificate of authenticity. ELIZABETH· II DG·REG FD 1977 The queen on horseback, riding left. The year 1977, between two sprigs of foliage, is placed beneath the horse. The reverse has a simple elegant design which fills the entire field uncluttered by any inscription. The central motif is a swan (a royal bird) with outstretched wings and standing on the Ampulla of the Coronation Royal Regalia with the Anointing spoon below, all contained within a circle surmounted by a crown and surrounded by foliage. The edge is milled. This coin was immensely popular with the public and over 11.5 million were struck in cupro-nickel. Diameter 38mm. Brilliant proof as issued.
Depictions of books (and coins) are unretouched images of the actual item offered for sale.
The cupro-nickel version, seen offered on E-bay priced at £1,000 is surely a joke by an opportunist. We offer one here for free with this silver proof.
