28 Sep 2010. The Michael Hall Collection. Medallic Portraits from the Renaissance to the Nineteenth Century. (Part 3) Approx 150 pages. 663 Lots. 208 x 298mm. Nearly all medals illustrated 1:1 in colour. Hall, an American-born art collector. dealer and connoisseur, built up this 2,500 piece collection in the 1960s and 70s. It is, by far, the largest sale of renaissance pieces since the Rosenheim (Sotheby's 1923) and Oppenheimer (Christie’s 1936) sales and contains significant rarities. The Renaissance section itself is comprehensive and the scale of European medallic art offered from later Italy, France, Germany, the Holy Roman Empire and the Netherlands, is significant.
A nice clean copy, almost as new.
