T W Ball Ltd, Walsoken. £1

T W Ball Ltd, Walsoken.  £1 Printed red on white card, 38.0mm, 1.40mm thick. Reverse as obverse.  GF, or better.

Walsoken is a fenland village on the Norfolk/Cambridgeshire border. So close to the border that its churchyard is divided between the two counties, though the bulding itself, which has the biggest Norman church nave in East Anglia is decidedly in Norfolk. The village, which straddles the old A47 has become a suburb of Wisbech. The population was  1,484 in 2001.  There is evidence of occupation since the Iron Age.

The surname Ball/Balls is known in the area from early times. There is now no trace of the T W Ball company who were fruitgrowers.
