Potton is a small market town and civil parish in Bedfordshire, about 10 miles east of the county town Bedford and close to the Cambridgeshire border. Its population in 2011 was 4,870. It has a long history, holding its first market in the 13th century when much of the local land belonged to the Earls of Huntingdon. The 13th-century parish church is dedicated to St. Mary. Until the early 20th century Potton was home to a lively horse fair, which attracted visitors from all over the county and beyond.
Nearby the RSPB has their national headquarters, located in a glorious wooded landscape with nature trails through woods, hides for bird watching, and other wildlife habitats.
