Blue cloth with gilt-titled spine.  xxii + 338pp Illustrated throughout with around 100 b&w illustrations. 132 x 155mm. No dust jacket (as issued?).  Previous owner's name on first endpaper, pages are otherwise clean and unmarked, Binding is tight, hinges strong, a slight printing flaw on the back of the title page, and no tanning (!). A little wear to the corners and top and bottom of the spine, Originally published in 1926.

Only articles of aesthetic appeal are considered in this volume, which is addressed to discriminating collectors, who sometimes like to read about what they already know, and to beginner-collectors, who have just started on their quest for artistic treasures...

Born in 1865, author Esther Singleton was a prolific American writer and traveller who published many books, mostly non-fiction covering such topics as furniture, porcelain and china, lace, glass, countries, Shakespeare, and gardens, she also published two collections of stories for children. She died in 1930.
